A Little Bit about "Katie"

Katie - one of my all-time favorites! Katie came out of an impulsive decision to buy a Whirlwind Farms Doe from Sue and April Seiler. I am not impulsive very often, but when I saw that beautiful caramel doe on the Seiler's webpage,  I HAD to have her! 

Katie's mother (PGCH WWF Delicate Decision) came to me as an unshown 2 1/2 year old doe. To make "Deli's" story short, I showed her to PGCH (she became a PGCH at 5 years old). However, I was never able to get her bred again, hence, Katie is the only kid I ever had out of her.

Katie was one of twins. We lost her brother. She was a CUTIE PIE of a doe kid but quickly became very sickly when at the age of 1 month, her mother decided she was done feeding her. I didn't realize it for a few days and by the time I did, Katie was VERY weak and near death from starvation.

 She became a bottle baby at 4 weeks old.  Katie struggled with on and off respitory troubles for 4 months. She was so sick that I nearly lost her several times. Finally, a vet found the RIGHT medication for her (Nuflor) and our battle was won. Because of her tough beginning, she was a SLOW developer. I didn't start showing her until she was nearly 8 months old. From that point on, she rarely did NOT win her class and racked up purple ribbons left and right. She absolutely loved to be shown. She would lead ME to the trailer and in her class just plain "showed off". Her incredible animation and correct structure demanded attention.  She became a PGCH at 2 1/2 years old. To date, she has kidded 3 times. Her first son became a PGCH at 2 years and 1 month of age (PGCH Country Critters Domino Effect). Her second son (born 9/07) has done well in the ring and is owned by G&B Farms in Bellingham, WA. Most recently (1/28/09) Katie gave us twin doe kids. She has always kidded easily and is a fantastic mother. 

She also set the bar very high, as to what kind of animals I want to develop in my herd.

Katie had a fantastic show record and became a PGCH at 2 1/2 years old
